POLA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES: Plant Tours to Deepen Local Community's Understanding of Our Business

Fukuroi Plant tour

Fukuroi Plant tour

During the 39 years since the opening of the Fukuroi Plant, POLA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES has accepted plant tours from a range of interested parties, including Group and partner companies, people from the local community, government representatives, students, and other customers from outside. This has been a form of PR activity that lets visitors observe our product quality, the excellence and safety of our technology for skin analysis, and environmental initiatives. We are not only raising familiarity by making contributions to local community, but are also working to increase the satisfaction of tour participants by repeatedly making improvements, including improving the tour route, improving the order in which our guides explain things, making arrangements to serve large groups, and conducting environment lectures.
In 2017, we were visited by 24 groups and 652 people.

POLA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES provides a variety of educational support activities.
In 2017, the Fukuroi Plant once again organized Environment Kids' Education. Our Yokohama R&D Center also continued to dispatch researchers to explain their jobs to junior high- and high-school students as part of their career study. Both the Fukuroi Plant and the Yokohama R&D Center also accepted local junior high-school students for workplace experiences, teaching them about the basics of cosmetics development and manufacturing.

Jurlique: Conveying the Joys of Working in Science to Students

Jurlique's plant in Adelaide has started a partnership with Heathfield High School, a school in Adelaide Hills, through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Industry Quest. The goal is to teach 9th-year science students (about 15 years old) about the joys of working in science by having them try out research at Jurlique.
The program lasts three months and the students work on developing new products in groups. At the end, they present and promote their new products. This program is a precious opportunity for the students as they get to experience everything from formulation, engineering, and package design to sales activities and variety of technologies.
